Midwest Clinic 2011 in Chicago - My WASBE Report

The 2011 Midwest Clinic in Chicago has all but finished with some clinics and concerts to go later today.  It has been a very busy week with WASBE meetings, the enormous trade show and the fantastically incessant social interaction.

WASBE 2011 opens in Chiayi City, Taiwan

 The 15th International WASBE conference has opened in CHiayi City, Taiwan. And by all accounts, things are going really well.  Earlier today, there was a performance given by the Norwegian Wind Orchestra in front of a sold out 1100 seater concert hall. That's a little different than it was in Killarney in 2007 when ticket sales were on the weak side to say the least. I was supposed to attend the conference in my capacity as a WASBE Board member but alas, due to work constraints, I was unable to travel.

I've read with interest the recent posts (and others) discussing intonation problems with various horns and I have a theory - and it may well be bull, but it's my theory, as follows:


Some things never change - A Concert review

Tonight, 25th January 2010, I conducted both the Junior and Senior Wind Bands of the RIAM in a concert at the National Concert Hall.  Truth to tell, both groups were under rehearsed as the recent snow closed the Academy for one of our scheduled rehearsal days and the planned weekend workshop with the seniors didn't happen as a result.
