Capricious Celts

This piece, written by Fergus O'Carroll, is a whimsical look at the celtic culture in the 21st century. It tries to be "up-to-date" whilst still maintaining its' celtic flavour. Starting with an interrupted fanfare motif and finishing with a jazz arrangement of the 2nd Celtic theme, it never stands still. Not to be taken too seriously, it makes for the perfect encore piece at four minutes long. It has been recorded by the Irish Police Force Band and performed numerous times in an orchestral transcription by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.

Very Irish (Copied from www.sibeliusmusic.com)

Beginning in the style of 'Riverdance' and gradually giving way to a more sophisticated 'catwalk' upbeat style, the piece is altogether satisying. The work's only lack could be the omission of a contrasting middle section... Though the form builds well, you do get the feeling by about half way through that the end must be near... or that the point has already been made but I will say it again anyway.
For ease of use by music directors who don't have such a full instrumentation with which to work, I would suggest including many more cues (though it is difficult to see well during playback as the print using A3 is so small)
Otherwise, you definately have my approval and congratulations.

AWESOME Piece (Copied from www.sibeliusmusic.com)

I like the piece A LOT. I'm spending my time writing it into Sibelius.. so that i can extract the parts and play them myself.

A Huge Splash! - copied from www.sibeliusmusic.com

This is a huge splash of very exciting music. Though Celtic music is not my favorite genre, this is totally entertaining, and the composer masterfully spices the piece with various other styles that shouldn't fit so well together, but they do. I hope some band is getting to play this, for I'm sure they'll love playing it. There are lots of little combinations of musical figures that surpise and delight. Maybe that's why this piece is so great. The Celtic music I'm most familiar with doesn't usually have many surprises. This piece, however, delivers one surprise after the other, creating a very unique composition that still clearly rings true to its inspiration. Congratulations!

Fun - Copied from www.sibeliusmusic.com

A very fun piece. I like the different 12/8 and 4/4 usage, as well as the "swing" section. The only thing I question is the unison trumpet playing throughout, and the range for 2nd and 3rd parts. The Euphonium part looks very enjoyable too! Nice work!
