OCMP Shareware Music

You are at the OCMP shareware page where complete music scores and parts are available for free download in Adobe Acrobat format. These are full editions and un-restricted in any way provided you fill in the registration form. There is "nag" text at the top of each page of the score. You will need the free Acrobat Reader Version 4 to view and print the files and this can be downloaded from the Adobe website. Payment is only required if you wish to use the music outside of a normal rehearsal session. I realise that many Directors have better things to do than print out music but in my experience, there are any number of students prepared to do this work for the group.

The first piece to be made available under this scheme was "Capricious Celts" . Since then, three other band pieces and one choral piece have been added, most recently "Libera Me", by Gabriel Fauré

Main Features of OCMP Shareware Music

The main features of this shareware music venture are:

1. Scores and or parts downloadable and printable free of charge and unrestricted> Simply fill in the form, download the files and the password to open the files will be emailed to you.

2. Files saved in American format (Letter size) which can be printed on European A4 paper

3. Sibelius Scorch files available to see and listen to. (Free Scorch plugin available from Sibelius)

4. Midi file downloadable

5. MP3 files to follow as soon as a real performance recording is available

6. Music Notation files in Sibelius format (small download sizes) will be emailed to the purchaser after payment, if this is requested. Parts can then be simplified, new parts created or music printed on larger format paper

7. A full set of printed parts with score is available for purchase in the normal fashion

8. Replacement parts emailed on request

OCMP will retain the performance rights for all music available as shareware until payment is received. One payment will allow the purchaser to perform the music as often as required. A receipt will be emailed to establish this license.

Obviously, as with all shareware software, OCMP depends on the honesty of Bands to pay for the music before performance. But having rehearsed the music with your ensemble, you will know whether you wish to program it or not. OCMP needs feedback on both the availability of shareware music and the value of its' products. There will be a reduction in price for all bands agreeing to report on their experiences and to receive emails with future releases attached.

Printing your Score and Parts

Scores and parts are optimized for the printer and not for the screen. They may look of dubious quality when viewed on screen but, when printed, should be as good as any print-purchased music. You are licensed to print one score and set of parts for the numbers in your group. To obtain the best results follow these steps:

1. Open the document in Adobe Acrobat ReaderV.4 or Adobe Acrobat V. 4. Enter the password which will be emailed to you.

2. Ensure that the paper selected in the "Page Setup" option of the file menu matches your download format, that is Letter or A4 (where a choice is available)

3. Uncheck Shrink to fit page in the Print dialogue Box

4. OCMP would strongly recommend that you use a "Print Preview" facility if it is contained in your print dialogue box.
